Here comes our National Villain…..Mr. Musharraf, doing what he is famous for i.e trying to prove to his worldly gods that he has got nothing to do with Islam and its tenets.
He is the person who has always vehemently deposed that he is an enlightened moderate Muslim. I wonder if he ever knew what a Muslim is???
A moderate Muslim is the one who follows the spirit and not the form, a moderate Muslim is a Jeans clad, clean shaven, funky looking young guy who never misses a prayer, a moderate Muslim is an independent young lady holding an executive position and yet wearing a scarf as per her own choice, a moderate Muslim is the one who knows he has got nothing to prove to anyone yet keeps fast with religious zeal…
What sort of enlightened Islam does Musharraf possess which allows him to eat and drink during the fasting times in the holy month of Ramazan. But probably it’s how he has been brought up.
However it’s not shocking at all. It’s pretty understandable and logical. Throughout his life he has been doing what he was not supposed to do (recall Kargil operation, the October 12 Coup, the referendum, involvement of Army in politics, formation of political party under the aegis of intelligence agencies, refusing to abide by his promise to shed his uniform, selling Pakistanis to USA, abducting and torturing practicing Muslims, Laal Mosque Operation, killing Bugti Sahib, adventure of March 9, setting up November 3rd Martial Law). You name it and you’ll have it. So what’s so shocking if he was drinking during fasting hours? He has his dirty political aims and (for that purpose) after all he has to prove something to SOME forces. It would have been advantageous for him to show an open practical aversion and repugnance towards an important Islamic injunction.
I’m short of words to express my feelings on his act of proud infringement of the sacred month of Ramzan. However Dr. Safdar Mehmood, a revered columnist and retired bureaucrat has dwelt upon the issue in daily Jang. That must be an eye opener for the staunch illogical supporters of Mush…

What nonsense, how many Pakistanis "never miss a prayer" Pakistan is a dammed country filled with hypocrisy. Look at the facts before writing garbage like this. Drinking does not make a man a bad Muslim, and no, I have never had a drink in my life. Musharaf did more for Pakistan and for Muslims then you can even conceive. It's because of people like you Pakistan has become the feudal cesspool that it is.
